The Long Stretch 2: The emotional impact of long-term imprisonment on loved ones

This report by Ruth Woolsey follows consultation with 27 people: 24 who have loved ones serving long prison sentences and three practitioners who work with prisoners’ families. It highlights the severe emotional and practical impacts of long-term imprisonment on loved ones and calls for systemic reforms to improve family engagement, reduce sentence lengths and promote rehabilitation.
