PRT board: Nick Stace OBE

Following his appointment to the House of Lords, Nick Stace OBE has announced his intention to step down as chair of the PRT board of trustees. He will remain as a trustee with the full backing of the PRT board.

A recruitment for a new chair will be announced in the coming weeks. Nick has agreed to remain as chair until January 2027 while his successor is appointed.

Commenting on the announcement, Nick said:

“It has been an immense privilege to chair the charity during a period of great challenge and opportunity for the criminal justice system. During my chairmanship, the PRT has contributed to significant reform to the sentencing framework and led the debate on the need for a more balanced approach to our use of imprisonment. I am enormously grateful for the support of my fellow trustees and the leadership of Pia and the team. I am pleased to remain as chair until my successor is appointed. I look forward to contributing to the important work of the organisation as a trustee.”

Pia Sinha, chief executive of the Prison Reform Trust, said:

“Nick has been an outstanding chair and I am enormously grateful to him for the support and guidance he has provided during my time as chief executive. Although we are sad he will be stepping down as chair, we are delighted that we will continue to benefit from his knowledge and insight as a trustee of the charity.”
