Paula Harriott presented with prestigious Perrie award
Paula Harriott, PRT’s head of prisoner engagement, received the prestigious Perrie award at the Perrie Lectures event held in Newbold Revel, Rugby, on Wednesday 14 June.
The Perrie lectures is an annual event which has the purpose of stimulating dialogue between criminal justice organisations, the voluntary sector and all those with an academic, legal or practical interest in people in prison and their families.
Since 1995, the Perrie award has been presented annually during the day of the lectures. It has been given by the Perrie lectures committee to the person who has done most to promote an understanding of the work of the prison service, and pushed forward the development of penal policy.
Commenting, PRT’s chief executive Pia Sinha, said:
“We are immensely proud that Paula Harriott has received the prestigious Perrie lecture award. This award is bestowed on the person who has not only done the most to promote an understanding of the prison system but pushed boundaries and perceptions through their work. Alison Liebling, Juliet Lyon, Dame Anne Owers are all previous winners – this is the scale of Paula’s accomplishment. We congratulate Paula and bask in reflected glory!’’
Paula said:
‘’Being recognised for this award is such an honour, but I also know that any success is built on the collective efforts of the people I work with and the strength persistence and vision of many others in the lived experience field and our allies. So this award recognises all of them too, and propels us to do even more.’’
