Eric Allison
Reacting to the news of the death of Eric Allison, the Guardian’s prison correspondent, Peter Dawson, director of the Prison Reform Trust said:
“We were saddened to hear that Eric Allison has died. Nowadays, it is a much less radical proposition to think that the people with the most accurate insights about our prisons might be the people who have lived in them. But Eric was a trail blazer and gave an example to others wanting to bring their inside knowledge to work for good after release. There is never a shortage of uninformed prejudice where prisons and prisoners are concerned. The only antidote is for good people who really know what they are talking about to stand up and tell the truth about our prison system, and the individuals who live and work in it. Eric was one of those good people and he will be missed.”
